Julia Rowlands
The theme of my work is the subversion of the domestic and rebellion against societies expectations when fulfilling the roles of woman, mother and artist. I am concerned with creating reactions within the viewer through their associations with the chosen medium, which for these works is primarily ceramic and meat, and employ the concept of ugliness as a mechanism to generate responses.
